I had tried to crate train Lucy when she was a tiny puppy. Never got very far with that because she would never go in on her own and if you did get her in there she would cry and bark like her life was ending. It was a hassle. Her crate became her toy box and she would stay in the living area if no one was home. She was fine being left alone in the house most of the time. A couple of months ago, she began acting up, probably because of stress due to some changes. If she was left home alone, she would tear the place up. Pillows all over the floor, paper and her potty pad ripped up all over the stairs, etc. Thankfully she was showing signs of being ready to be crate trained. There were times when she would be found sleeping in her crate on her own. It took me one day to train her. She goes in when she is told to and sometimes, when I am getting ready to leave for work, she puts herself in there. Now, I have been training her to go into her soft crate for any future traveling. Well, I did not really train...I just leave it in the living room. Throughout the day she puts herself in there. I woke up from a nap today and started looking for Lucy. I could not find her in her usual spots. Then I checked her soft crate, and there she was. So cute.
