hash house brunch

the best way to start off a sunday is by going to brunch.  went with two friends to the hash house for some yummy scrambles and of course waffles.  looking at the above picture makes me hungry for more (should've taken my unfinished waffle to go...)  oddly enough, i never was the biggest waffle fan, but there are 2 places where i will eat them.  roscoes (miss it) and hash house.  mmmmmm.

at home ramen

finally decided on something to eat tonight.  ramen.  weird because it is so hot outside, yet i had a hankering for a big bowl of hot noodle soup.  added seaweed and egg for more deliciousness.

the pant triplets

such a funny day.  i went into work on my day off because i wanted to test lucy in the office.  if she did well, i was going to bring her to work on my merch days.  the last time i brought her, she barked and cried like she was being tortured.  it was a very draining day because customers could hear her cries.  back to the picture above.  i went in and was talking with my co-workers.  all of the sudden, one of them starts laughing hysterically and i am unsure why.  she mentions our pants and i look down.  we are all wearing the exact same pants!  i had to have a picture of it.  these are THE pants of the season...love them more than my skinny jeans at the moment.  i don't own cargos, but skinny cargos?  yes please.

faryl robin

my faryl robin sandals came in today.  exciting!  and for those who know me, i love great packaging (i had a post on one of my older blogs about the piper lime packaging in the past...)  fun shoebox design.  the tissue paper in the box was pretty cool too.

the crate

I had tried to crate train Lucy when she was a tiny puppy.  Never got very far with that because she would never go in on her own and if you did get her in there she would cry and bark like her life was ending.  It was a hassle.  Her crate became her toy box and she would stay in the living area if no one was home.  She was fine being left alone in the house most of the time.  A couple of months ago, she began acting up, probably because of stress due to some changes.  If she was left home alone, she would tear the place up.  Pillows all over the floor, paper and her potty pad ripped up all over the stairs, etc.  Thankfully she was showing signs of being ready to be crate trained.  There were times when she would be found sleeping in her crate on her own.  It took me one day to train her.  She goes in when she is told to and sometimes, when I am getting ready to leave for work, she puts herself in there.  Now, I have been training her to go into her soft crate for any future traveling.  Well, I did not really train...I just leave it in the living room.  Throughout the day she puts herself in there.  I woke up from a nap today and started looking for Lucy.  I could not find her in her usual spots.  Then I checked her soft crate, and there she was.  So cute.

White Cross Drugstore

I finally got a chance to eat at White Cross here in Vegas.  I have read about this place numerous times online when searching for hidden gems in the city.  For the past 2 years, I never made it a point to go.  Finally did.  The restaurant takes up a tiny bit of the actual drug store.  It was like stepping into a diner in a very small town in the 50s.  Definitely hasn't been updated, but that adds to the charm.  The food is typical diner fare, but not too bad.  I had the veggie omelet with homestyle potatoes.  At least I finally went.

Happy Birthday...

to Lucy!  Lucy just had her first birthday.  I can't believe she was born a year ago.  I was going to have a little party and invite all her dog friends and their parents, but a lot of people were working.  I definitely wanted to make Lucy a special treat for her birthday.  I looked up some dog cake recipes online to make for her.  The one I chose was called "peanut butter delight."  It consisted of peanut butter and carrots...pretty much a pb carrot cake.  Instead of making a big cake, I decided on cupcakes.  Lucy being the generous dog that she is, insisted that I give them out to her dog friends.  So I did (as well as their parents who wanted to taste it...most liked the way it tasted...)  When I got home that night, after Lucy had her dinner, I let her eat her bday cupcake.  She LOVED it and licked up every bite.  I was also able to get her to "stay" for 5 minutes!  Which is why she is laying there staring at her treat... I'm finally able to get that command down.  Whew.

driving along

I always tell myself I am going to walk in downtown Vegas for some photo ops.  And then I get lazy.  As I drove down Las Vegas Blvd on my way to Dino's (a dive bar with karaoke nights,)  I passed by this motel that I always wanted to take a picture of.  Might as well do it from my car because I know my lazy butt will never be walking on this side of town late at night.  Well, maybe one day I will, but until then, I have this.

lunch

I was in Target the other day and saw these containers by ziploc.  I got really excited and had to have them.  I started dreaming of the endless lunch combinations I could bring to work.  Three compartments, all perfectly proportioned for me.  It's like making my own tv dinner that could ultimately be healthy.  My first week with these consisted of housing my chicken nuggets, potato salad, and ranch.  Okay, not the healthiest meal (at least I made my own potato salad...) but I still loved it.  I wonder what else I will be putting in this...
