Chicago joes

Went out to a "romantic" dinner with rocky. It was a very lady and the tramp moment. Okay minus any romance.

Rocky and I decided to hang out and have dinner. So he brought me to Chicago Joes. Such a quaint and lovely place. The restaurant is actually a teeny tiny house in downtown. It doesn't hold very many people. But it is so cozy with twinkling lights strung throughout the room. Another hidden gem found here in Vegas.

the final installation of the megan bday night!  after walking down fremont street, we went to megan's favorite bar, sidebar.  it was my first time there and i loved it.  stepping into the bar made me feel like i was instantly taken out of vegas.  it was like i was in chicago, boston, or new york all of the sudden.  i loved it!  i decided not to drink anything with alcohol that night, so the bartender concocted the most delicious non-alcoholic beverage.  it was summery and light with fresh strawberry chunks.  a glass full of yumminess.

while walking down fremont street we found the partride family bus!  we also found prince AND bret michaels crossing the street together...as well as a fat elvis taking a picture of a showgirl...

oh fremont street.  you are the perfect place to people watch.  

myspace

So after dinner, we were walking down a hall of mirrors and decided to take a hipster myspace photo.  We thought we were being funny and kept laughing the entire time trying to make a serious kissy face.  People were walking by us and they probably thought we were weird (then again, maybe not as there are a lot of odd people on Fremont street.)  always fun times.  

Palace Hotel

I took my friend, Megan, out for a belated birthday dinner.  We went to the Palace hotel in downtown Las Vegas to check out the new Firefly location.  Definitely like the paradise Firefly a lot more.  The ambiance in this new one is just not the same.  We had a fabulous dinner and before we left we went to the restrooms.  Judging from the bathrooms, my guess is that this hotel has not had any renovations.  When we stepped into the bathroom, it was like we were transported to the 80s.  The most awful floral pink wallpaper and lighting.  So awful that I had to get some sort of picture to always remember it.  

aloha fridays

Lucy goes to camp every once in a while, it depends on my work schedule.  If I open, then I will normally take her and pick her up when I get off work.  Sometimes she stays for overnight camp, but not usually.  This place is one of her favorite places ever.  She gets so excited when the car gets closer to camp.  By the time I open up the car door, she is jumping out and pulling me towards the door.  Once inside she runs up to her camp counselors and completely ignores me.  She loves it, they love her, and I am happy she is taken care of.  This month they are having Aloha Fridays.  When I went to pick her up, they gave me this picture of her in front of a Tiki background.  She's also wearing a Lei!  I love it!

megan's birthday!

megan had a spur of the moment midnight bday pool party the last night.  i had to get up at 4:30AM to get to work, so i didn't stay too late.  i had to get a pretty ice cream cake for her to celebrate.  choco chip ice cream with chocolate cake.  yum!  it took me a while to find a baskin robbins here in vegas.  it feels like there aren't many around!  but i found one.  hooray for megan's bday!
