Beautiful Blooms

I had a wonderful surprise at work today.  When I came back from my lunch, one of our associates told me I had a special delivery.  I looked at her quizzically, a delivery....for me?  She then pointed to a beautiful vase of flowers sitting on the counter.  I thought to myself, "flowers?  for me?  Who on earth would ever send me flowers?  On the 14th of February no less!"  Just looking at the arrangement, I immediately knew it came from Flowers of the Field and that it was Cheryl's work of art.  And what a beautiful arrangement of some of my favorite flowers!  Mini YELLOW calla lillies, tulips, and gerber daises.  So colorful, so perfectly me.  I looked at the card and saw that it was from my dear friend Elite, all the way from California.  I was touched and thankful that I have such a thoughtful friend.  It made me more happy that it came from Cheryl's store.

Thank you Elite for the beautiful blooms.  Though I have always told you my stance on flowers, I really appreciate it.  It put a smile on my face.

Sopa de fideo con pollo

I've decided to try at least ONE new recipe a week.  Let's see how long this last!  Hopefully better than my blogging.

So this week's recipe was sopa de fideo con pollo (or we can call it Mexican chicken noodle soup.)  The recipe is supposed to be spicy, but since I don't like spice, I did not add the chiles.  I'm thinking it could be better with the chiles, so next time I might add half than what the recipe calls for.  The not-so-fun part of this was skinning and seeding the tomatoes.  The soup turned out pretty delish (at least for my taste.)  It wasn't mind blowing, but I will enjoy eating it this week!  Added sour cream to my bowl before consuming it.  Wish I had avocado, so I could add that too (and it would have given it a nice pop of color!)

A whole lotta mats

Today, Lucy shrank from puff ball status to skinny minnie.  I wasn't going to get her hair cut until it was warm, but I had no choice.  She was heavily matted more than she has ever been.  It was time to start over and hopefully this time around, I can keep her nice and mat free (which really means going to the groomers every month.)

I felt like such a bad dog mommy letting her get like that.  She was at the groomers for 3 hours. At least it'll all grow back soon enough, and she will be fluffy.  I will not ever let her get that matted again!

Who will win?

I will win!

For the past two weeks my body has been battling a cold or the flu.  Now is not a good time to be sick, so I have been taking anything I can just to make sure it doesn't happen.  Last Sunday I was fed up with feeling "kinda sick, but not really" so I took my Emergen-C, drank chamomile tea, rested up, and ate jook.  When I woke up Monday, I felt so much better!  Then, Tuesday night came along and I started to feel sick again.  Woke up this morning feeling a bit worse.  I told myself, maybe I should let it overcome me, so that I can just get it over with.  Changed my mind because that won't be fun.  I am going to keep trying my best to win this fight!!!  I haven't been sick in OVER A YEAR!  That's pretty fantastic since I usually get sick 4-6 times a year (ever since I was a child.)  Kinda weird because I have done nothing to be healthier and my life has been pretty stressful for a year, but I'll take it!
