Floral Arranging

I am so lucky to have amazing friends that let me come play with them!  I was able to dabble in one of the things I have always wanted to try.  Thanks to my dear friend Cheryl at Flowers of the Field for letting me be her assistant for the day (and for making one of my small dreams come true!)

At first I was very hesitant (as I always am when it comes to trying new things,) but after a bit, I felt more comfortable.  Cheryl was an amazing teacher and I had a lot of fun doing something out of my norm.  I was very excited when I finished my first centerpiece!  And now, I can really appreciate the time and effort floral designers put into their creations.

Now and Then

I was coming up the stairs after walking Lucy and saw her peering down at me.  I just had to get a picture of it.

When she was just a pup, we would leave her in the house and not in her crate while we worked.  Every day, when one of us would come home, Lucy would be peering over the stairs, waiting.  So, when I saw her doing the same thing now, it brought back memories.  So much has changed since then.  Look at the differences a year (and 4 months) makes.  From cute little puppy to fluffy old man looking furball.

Cher!

This posting every day is getting tough!   Oh well.

My aunt asked me about a week ago if I wanted to see a show with her and a couple of her friends and I agreed.  What did we got see?  Cher!  I'm pretty stoked that I got to go.  The show itself was pretty good and it was fun. She was funny.   I think the best part for me was the costumes.  Sequins and sparkle were every where!  Love.

Now since living in Vegas, I have seen Elton John and Cher at the colosseum.  Who is next?!?

Splash

Such an eventful day.  It started out with my Christmas present to my parents, a visit to the Huntington Gardens and Library.  They've been wanting to do this for a while, but haven't had anyone available to take them.  I also made reservations at the tea house in the rose garden for lunch.  The food was surprisingly delicious.  We dined on scones, tea sandwiches, fruits, cheeses, salads, and pastries.  And of course, a delicious holiday blend of tea.

After lunch, we decided to start at the Japanese garden and koi pond.  Our visit ended there.  My mom and I were looking at some tadpoles when we heard a loud splash coming from the other side.  It sounded like someone falling in.  My mom immediately thought it was my dad, so off we went to see what happened and sure enough, my dad was in the pond.  I guess he was trying to take a picture of something, and fell in.  I had to convince him to stop looking for his camera and get out of the water.  Sigh.  I ran to the gift shop to at least buy him a dry shirt, while he tried to dry off.  One of the gardeners came over and helped fish out his camera and his visor....that was the end of our visit.  Maybe we'll have a better visit next time.  I will have to keep my dad away from the pond.

Little Tokyo

I made it to California in one piece!  Yay!  The drive was a bit exhausting.  I'm not sure how I used to make the drive all those times before...

My first night consisted with hanging out with Jen in Little Tokyo, DTLA.  So much fun shopping in the little Japanese tchotchkes store, and wandering in and out of the boutiques.  Had a delicious sushi dinner at Sushi-Gen (always a fave) and finished the night with some yogurtland.  I am so excited for the other days I will be having with friends and family.  And of course, the yummy food that will be eaten.

Because...

I haven't posted in a few days because there hasn't been anything going on.  I have been at work the last few days and then I come straight home.  I do absolutely nothing.  Well, except walk my dog, play with her, zone out, walk my dog, and go to sleep.  Yup, that is my typical day.

But I thought I'd post something and a picture of Lucy.  Because she's adorable and I know everyone loves to see her picture.  And  even if you don't, it's my blog :)

Going to California tomorrow.  Cannot wait for the excitement that is going to be had!

Crab ragooooooon

I was introduced to crab ragoons not too long ago by a friend.  Never thought I would like because fried wonton wrapped cream cheese did not sound so appealing.  My first bite, and I was hooked on this wrapped bundle of deliciousness.  I have not had it since that one time, but as I was picking up dinner, I noticed it on the menu.  Ordered it and my tummy was very happy.

Also, I have come to the conclusion that most of my posts will revolve around food or Lucy.  I guess those two things have a very big place in my life!  Food is delicious though.  And Lucy?  Well she's the cutest dog in the whole wide world!

Macau Soup

For dinner tonight, Erin came to visit me over at GVR and we went across to Elephant Bar.  I decided to try their Macau soup.  Many people seem to love it, and I wanted to know why.  I am typically not one to try new things.  Without fail, I eat the same items pretty much every where I go.  But it was a cold night, and it looked pretty good from what I remembered.  A tad bit on the spicy side (at least for me.)  At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it that much, but as I kept eating it, there was something about the noodles and soup that made me want more.  When I was done, I felt like it was a dish that I could possibly crave in the future, but I'm still unsure if I LOVED it.  Hmm...still good though.

Kelly Moore bag

I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these!  I have been in search for the perfect non-camera looking camera bag, and I came across this website a few months ago.  For the first time ever, when my brother asked what I wanted for Christmas, I had an answer.  A Kelly Moore e-certificate to use towards the purchase of one of her bags.  The style I want is the B-Hobo bag.  I love the way it looks on the model.  I just can't decide on the color.  Get something colorful or neutral?  Do I wait to see if a fuchsia or orange colored bag comes out this year?  Or do I go for the neutral walnut or grey?  This is the best gift from my brother (thanks!)

Food for....one?

On my day off, I decided to make all my food for the week because I'm super lazy like that.  If I don't, then I end up eating out for every single meal.  And, let's face it, I don't pick up the most healthiest things when eating out.  I started off the afternoon making chicken noodle soup.  Had leftover pasta, and made a tuna pasta salad.  Next up was some cornbread muffins.  And, I ended with seaweed tofu soup.  Once I was done, I looked at the food in my kitchen and realized I had enough food to feed 12 people (if they were to all take once helping of each thing.)  It's so hard for me to make small portions.  Then again, I have all my meals until the end of the week.

Snow paws

I got my wish today as I woke up to snow falling from the sky.  I even got up early to look out the window and see if it really did happen today.  Lucy and I immediately got up to walk the streets as tiny snowflakes fell.  The snow started to fall more heavily as the morning went on.  Lucy and I snuggled in bed, and I had opened up the blinds to the balcony so that we could look out.  By 10AM, it stopped snowing and our streets were completely covered in white.  I have always wanted to take Lucy out into the snow (her kind is from Tibet, after all ;) )  I let her run in the park off leash.  She preferred eating it though, which was so adorable as her face was covered.  By noon, everything had melted away, which was fine with me.  At least I got to experience (for the second time) for a little bit.

Vegas snow day?

Can this be true?  A snow day in Vegas?  I would be so happy if it does snow tomorrow since I am off work.  But, not too much because I don't want a repeat of December 2008.  It was exciting then though, I just (one) couldn't drive in it and (two) had ice on my driveway for a week (who knew salt would de-ice it?  Not this Californian)  I heard it is snowing in the NW parts of Vegas...please come down south a little more so that I can see it too.  Lucy would love it.  She already has snow feet.

5-year journal

Today was the first day of my 5-year journal.  I plan on answering each daily question every night.  For the next 5 years.  Can I do it?  Hopefully because I'd love to see how my answers change throughout the year.  5 years doesn't seem like a long time, but many thing can happen within that short span of life.  In 5 years, I will be 35.  Where will I be, what will I be doing?  At the moment, my future seems dark and blank, but I know something is out there.

And just like I will be writing in the journal every day, I hope to post more often.  Only because I know people want to know what is going on in my life (lol.)  Seriously though, posting is a good outlet for me as well as a nice reflection of the year.

I hope this new year brings many changes in my life.  2011 is all about me after all.
